Successes of Cooperation with Stora Enso

Purpose of cooperation:

 

Improvement of employees' language skills for better communication with foreign clients, business partners and co-workers.

About the client:

 

Stora Enso is a leading global supplier of renewable solutions for packaging, biomaterials and wood structures and one of the largest private forest owners in the world. The organization is committed to eliminating fossil-based materials, replacing them with solutions based on biodegradable materials.

1. Introduction

Proposed solution:

 

  • We provided individual online courses, allowing employees to flexibly fit classes into their schedules, allowing them to attend at a time that suits them.

  • The curriculum was carefully tailored to the specifics of the industry to effectively support the professional needs of participants.

  • The level of the courses was precisely tailored to the individual language needs of participants.

  • Employees complete an intensive English course, which includes up to two sessions per week.

    Participants were provided with a wide range of exercises, supporting independent work on improving their language skills.

     

2. Selected Solutions

Implementation:

 

Currently, 35 people from different departments are taking part in the course. The implementation process began with signing a contract and determining the needs of the participants. After this stage, an oral English test was conducted for all registered employees. The test examined many language aspects such as: pronunciation, grammar, fluency and vocabulary. After completing the test, each participant received an in-depth report prepared by the Chatschool methodologist, which included information about the language level of the given employee and a language analysis containing all the above-mentioned parameters. During the preparation of the report, the methodologist also included data regarding the individual goal in teaching English to a specific employee. Thanks to the fact that all information contained in the report is available to the lecturer, the teacher can adapt the material to each participant during the classes.

 

During the course, the participant received a pool of tokens (1 token = 60-minute lesson) to use during the course. Each participant could choose a lecturer who would meet their requirements both in terms of teaching and flexibility and schedule adjustment.

 

After each forty classes, a second oral test is organized for each participant to check the student's progress. Information in the form of a report from such a test appears on the individual account of each employee. Thanks to this, the employee has the opportunity to check their progress during the course.

Our cooperation began in May 2020 and continues to this day! Stora Enso employees have a specific limit of classes from 3 to a maximum of 8 lessons per month. All classes are conducted individually, so each participant can adjust the lesson to their schedule.

Cooperation with Stora Enso has brought tangible benefits in terms of improving employees’ language skills and their effectiveness in a global work environment. We plan to continue this cooperation and periodically add new students from Stora Enso. As part of the innovation, we will introduce elements using artificial intelligence into classes, such as interactive lessons tailored to each student. Additionally, every 40 lessons we will conduct detailed assessments of participants’ progress, which allows us to continuously adapt the curriculum to their needs.
